An internet-loving couple decided to create a special website for their daughter-to-be. This wasn’t your average baby shower site: it was created so that users could suggest (and vote for) a name for the little girl.

Here’s an excerpt from the front page:

“Hi, My name is Stephen and much to the disbelief of my wife, I have decided to let the internet name* my daughter.
Yeah that is an asterisk, Unfortunately internet I know better than to trust you. We will ultimately be making the final decision, Alas my daughter shall not be named WackyTaco692. Sorry guys the wife wouldn't go for a free for all.”

Monster baby?

The internet, being what it is, did not disappoint… Unfortunately, the most popular choice was the unusual name “Cthulhu”. Cthulhu is the name of a mythical monster created by H.P. Lovecraft in 1928. It’s generally depicted as having octopus-like features on its head and human and dragon features elsewhere.

Not too babyish.

So Stephen, according to Global News, has capitulated to his wife Kathryn and chosen the second-favourite name chosen by users, “Amelia”.

Middle-name madness

Some parents opt for crazier middle names, but Stephen and Kathryn avoided the options on offer, which included “All-Spark”, “Of-the-Sea”, “Le-Dash-A” and “Pond”.

Welcome to the world, Amelia Savannah Joy McLaughlin!
