Nun's mystery baby
Imagine going to the hospital with a stomach ache and coming out with something completely unexpected...

So many challenges come with being a nun, certain expectations and rules; imagine crossing the biggest one of remaining pure your whole life

A healthy baby boy was born this week in the central city of Italy, Rieti. The little boy was named after the current Pope, Francesco.

Sounds quite normal until the part where the child was born to a nun from an Italian convent and claims she didn’t know she was pregnant.

According to The Stir, the 31-year-old Roxanne Rodriguez originally from El Salvador insisted she was not pregnant and that it was not possible because she’s a nun.

There are some sources who claim that she may have been keeping her pregnancy a secret, (which is completely understandable) while others believe she really did not know and just chose to keep quiet.

How long can one keep a pregnancy on the down low, surely after a while someone is going to see your little bump peeking through your habit?

So whom do we really believe and why should this matter?

The local pastor seems to believe the nun after saying she wasn’t aware of her pregnancy when arriving at the hospital.

Whether she was aware or not the fact still remains. According to The Telegraph, the Catholic Church in Italy said they were embarrassed.

The local bishop Delio Lucarelli said the nun will have to leave the convent in Rieti, after breaking her vow of purity.

His spokesperson said, “It would be preferable that she now lead a secular life with her baby, away from religious institutions.”

There is much space to feel pity for the not so-young-nun who has to start a whole new life away from the only life she knows, but the question remains:

How did she get herself into the pickle and why didn’t she think of the consequences before-hand?

Is it possible to be unaware of a pregnancy?
