Model Sarah Stage has been doing what many other expectant moms do on their social media accounts, documenting her pregnancy. The difference is, though, that the super-fit mom-to-be has almost no baby bump. A brief look at her Instagram account will confirm this.

The no-bump pregnancy

Her pictures have earned her loads of admiration, but they’ve also produced grumbles from women whose bodies adapt to carrying a child in the usual way, by growing. She’s even been accused of “bump shaming”.

Many women find it hard to do something as simple as getting dressed during pregnancy, especially during their third semester. It’s a time when you may feel unattractive if you’re squeezing yourself into elasticated mom-pants rather than the glamourous outfits you’d prefer to wear. On the other hand, some women embrace this tie as a chance to relax the pressure to keep up appearances and prepare for motherhood.

Adapting naturally

It’s hardly possible to influence the size of your baby bump- your body will adapt naturally. Doctors recommend consistent exercise for the benefit of mom and baby, but you may simply have to just go with whatever you get.

What do you think? Is Sarah “bump shaming” other moms-to-be?
