Just in time for Stranger Things season 2 premiering 27 October, Krystal Jugarap and Daniel Vongnakhone, fans of the hit Netflix show, posted a very well-thought-out gender reveal inspired by the series.

In possibly the coolest gender reveal of all time, for a Stranger Things fan such as myself, at least, they seem to be communicating from the Upside Down.

No, I’m not making this up. Check out their video below:

In season one of the Emmy-winning show, after Will goes missing and finds himself in an alternative reality known as the Upside Down, his mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) communicates with him through Christmas lights in their home. This couple thought it might be a fun idea to communicate with their friends and family in the exact same way. They bought a string of lights and search the depths of the world wide web to figure out how to get them to light up separately to spell out “It’s a girl”. A bit of arduino trickery, and the result is epic!

Krystal told ABC News that after they posted the video on Facebook, a lot of their family and friends didn’t know there was a message in the video and they didn’t even really get the reference.

“A lot of them don’t watch Stranger Things,” she said.

But we do! We would’ve loved a random cameo by Barb and some Eggos too... but we certainly appreciate the effort they put into this creative gender reveal.

Their baby girl is due in February 2018 and they plan on naming her Leila Rey in reference to their favourite movie, Star Wars.
