Woman runs marathon at 39 weeks pregnant

accreditation
Most women spend the final days of their pregnancy trying to stay off their swollen feet- the last thing on their minds is maintaining an exercise regime- but for Amber Miller, being 39 weeks pregnant didn’t stop her from completing the Chicago Marathon, reported Reuters.

Miller went into labour shortly after completing the 42.195 km race, giving birth to her second child. Both were healthy.

"I was kind of planning on running about half and maybe skipping to the end and walking across the finish line," Miller said in a clip on the ABC News website.
She ended up alternating between running for two miles and walking for two miles throughout the race, Miller told the Chicago Tribune.

Doctors were kept informed of Miller's exercise plans during her pregnancy and had no objections to her running in the marathon, a spokeswoman from Central DuPage hospital  said.

It’s hard to imagine how an expectant mom could run such a vast distance, and harder still to grasp how she managed to give birth shortly after.
