Gender reveal parties

Pregnancy is expensive. Between the doctor’s fees, a new maternity wardrobe, big ticket items like prams and cots and not to mention the actual birth, there’s a lot of money involved.

While many women’s baby showers are a surprise thrown by friends or family, others prefer to host their own baby showers (another expense). So I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would waste even more money on gender reveal parties.

A what?

A gender reveal party is where a couple hosts a party for their friends and family to let them know the sex of their unborn baby. And they can get pretty elaborate. There are invites, cakes, décor and games almost like a baby shower but with no gifts (I’m assuming) and there’s usually a cake cutting which is either pink or blue on the inside.

But why? Whatever happened to just telling people when they ask? Why is there a need to have another elaborate party? In my opinion it’s just a waste of money.

Take a look at our gender reveal party gallery.
