They say that new grandparents are just as excited as new parents, just like you’re preparing and imagining a little one running around the house, they are doing it too. Nothing is more precious to a grandparent than their grandchild.
So why not celebrate them as well, or rather, grandma, because granddads don’t really do the congratulations-throw-a-pampering-party thing, they would just chill in front of the television with drink and a few friends to celebrate junior.
On the real, it’s happening and it’s even got a name, a grandma shower, according to Mommyish.
They could have been a little more original with the name...
The thought of it is kind of cute when you’re the only child and having a baby, is the only chance of your mother being able to play doll house again. The fact that there is something for them to share with their friends is sweet; it’s like a ''hooray moment'' for them.
But when you’re kind of unfortunate and have a smother/monster-in-law who loves the attention to be on her, this whole idea is more in the lines of irritating.
Nothing is more annoying than a mother-in-law who diverts the attention from you, the pregnant fairy, to her, the grandmother.
All about you, for just a bit.
Okay, maybe she deserves a hug and congratulations, but you’re the one who walks 9 whole months with a growing baby inside of them, you deserve the gifts, the pampering, the good lucks and all the hugs and sweets in the world. This part of your life should be about you now.
Let’s face it, you’re not going to be the fairy after the nine months are over, you’re going to be the woman with mashed fruit and vegetable stains all over your clothes who has sleepless nights and very early mornings.
Fairies have their hair done, nails done and wear pretty clothes, after it was your turn to be a fairy, then you have to step down because your little bundle of joy will be your fairy.
So in real life, who deserves the hooha now?
Are you okay with mother-bear stealing your spotlight and having her own pamper party?
