I don’t expect to have a baby shower. It’s not that I don’t want one, it’s just that I don’t think it’s something that should be expected.
When I eventually am pregnant, it will be because my husband and I decide that we are ready. We’re the parents, we should provide for this kid that we decided to have. It’s not fair to expect other people to give me things.
Yes, people give you gifts and it’s lovely to get them. In fact, I love presents, it’s one of my favourite things but I don’t think one should expect them.
So when you throw your own baby shower are you not saying: “I am having a baby. Give me things!”. I think it’s tacky and honestly, a little bit rude.
Or is there another way to justify throwing yourself a baby shower that I’m just not seeing?
Would you organise your own baby shower?
