The poems are categorised and the site is friendly. Children can even listen to the poetry podcast via their MP3 players. The can post their own works, too.



The content explores the science of a wide variety of sports including cycling, basketball and surfing.
It’s aimed at older children, who will be fascinated by why a ball bounces, how extreme sport relies on gravity, how waves are formed (for surfing) and so on. Fascinating stuff.

Tiny Planets 


This is a lovely, very well designed site to help kids discover what fun there is in playing and learning within space. Preschoolers will enjoy this site, where they’ll find games, puzzles, colouring and educational activities. There are even printable lesson plans for parents and teachers to download.



Visitors can take a virtual tour of the seven wonders of the world and learn about The Temple of Artemis, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Great Pyramid, The Lighthouse of Alexandria amongst others.

Discovery Kids 


The name does say it all doesn’t it? Kids love mess and muck and this site should appeal nicely to their sensibilities. Explore the world of roaches, concoct yucky animated lab creations, learn about toxic waste – in fact there’s a veritable landfill of yucky games and activities for children.



An absolute treat of a website, Seussville is the home of the animated Dr Seuss. All the favourite characters are here, linked to different learning categories. Horton the Elephant hosts the reading
area, where children will learn concepts such as letter recognition and rhyming words, while Yertle the Turtle hosts the math area, where children will learn to recognise numerals and number words, to count, and to do simple addition

Pauly's Playhouse  


This vibrant website is chock full of games, activities and interactive play for children. The décor is a tad bright and jarring, but the content is great, featuring lots of well-animated games that teach everything from counting to memorisation.



Is your child a lasagne-loving Garfield fan? Click onto Garfield’s official website. It’s a veritable feast of Garfield with daily updated comics, an online store, interactive games (try the addictive Beat the Cheese!) and downloadable wallpaper.
