BOUNCE, BOUNCE, BOUNCE, BOUNCE, BOUNCE…

Hands up if that’s what your kids are like on Saturday mornings. Saturday: it used to be the time of day when you could just luxuriate in your bed  until whatever-o-clock, emerging only in search of food. Before Kids.

B.K., your Saturday was a blank canvas of unplanned fun, A.K., your Saturday is more likely to be suspiciously similar to the other days of the week. Only louder.

Those children who scrunched up their eyes in feigned sleep on weekday mornings would be capable of powering entire cities if you could harness their Saturday morning energy.

Here’s a collection of videos one grim-faced father made over three months of Saturday mornings. Starring his daughter (or at least a blurry, whirling dervish of a child) and his own stubbled face, he learns, over time, to accept her choice of music. Not really. His expressions speak of endurance unseen since explorers wandered unaided across the icy wastelands of Antarctica.

Grumpy grinch or cool dad?

When we first watched the video, we were a bit shocked… until we realised just how natural it is; a fair reflection of what many parents go through on Saturday mornings. It’s good to know that even though some super-parents are busy making fondant whiskers to adorn Hello Kitty cupcakes on Saturdays at dawn, others are weeping into their coffees  and mentally saying “make.it.stop”.

What do you think? Is this man’s Saturday morning anything like yours?
