DIY puffy paint in no time

accreditation

You will need:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of water
  • Paint in a variety of colours (we used acrylic paints)
  • Teaspoon
  • Wooden spoon
  • Four mixing bowls or jars
  • Ziploc bags
  • Scissors
  • Foam sheets

Step one

Measure the flour, salt and water into the jar or a large bowl. Use the wooden spoon to mix it to a pasty consistency.

Step two

Now divide the mixture into three bowls. Add a spoonful of paint to each of the bowls and mix well. You can add more paint if needed.

 Step three

Scoop the mixture into different Ziploc bags and close them properly.

 Step four

Press all the puffy paint to the one corner of the bag and fold the rest of the bag tightly around it.

 Step five

Put your foam sheet in place and hold the bag with paint above it. Cut a small incision on the end of the bag and squeeze the paint out. Repeat this with all three different paints to make a picture.

 Step six

Leave the painting to dry for a couple of days. It will go hard and puffy and the salt will turn into shiny crystals. Display the painting on a wall or the fridge.

You can use squeezy bottles instead of Ziploc bags. These are easy to paint with and this way the paint will keep for about a week.
