Kids movies we’re looking forward to this year

accreditation

While it seems like this year has just flashed by once again and we're heading towards the end, that doesn't mean that the entertainment is slowing down.

There are so many great kids movies that are still to be released this year so we've rounded them up for you. There's something for everyone here, from the little ones to your older teens.

Secret Life of Pets – Releasing 30 September 2016

"The quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes." This cute film is about what your pets get up to when you leave them home alone. With big names such as Louis CK, Kevin Hart and Eric Stonestreet lending their voices it's sure to be hilarious.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children  – 7 October 2016

This film is rated PG-13 and is definitely for older kids. It seems a bit creepy even though the overall message of accepting yourself despite your differences is a good one. If your kid is a bit sensitive, I'd give it a skip though.

Trolls -21 October 2016

I had one of these troll dolls when I was a kid and it's nice to see that they're being introduced to a new generation of kids. Starring Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, it's the tale of a happy troll and her grumpy counterpart who try to get along while embarking on a journey to save their fellow villagers.

Thomas & Friends: The Great Race – 28 October

This one is for the younger ones in the family. Thomas goes to the Great Railway Show and competes with some of the world's finest locomotives.

Doctor Strange – 4 November

Another one for the teens, this is Marvel's last one for 2016.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – 25 November

While the world of Harry Potter started off as a children's book, it has evolved to appeal a bit more to an older teen audience. This film, while rooted in the magical world of Harry Potter, is filled with fantastical beasts and some of them might be a bit scary for younger kids.

Moana – 2 December

A once-mighty demigod (Dwayne Johnson) and a spirited teenager (Auli'i Cravalho) embark on an epic adventure across the ocean. It's nice to see Disney diversifying it's offering. This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Star Wars: Rogue One – 16 December

Star Wars fans young and old are in for a treat as the story of how the Rebel Alliance got their hands on the plans for the Death Star comes to the big screen. This story takes place before Star Wars: A New Hope. I know there are a lot of Star Wars fans both young and old looking forward to this one.

My 3-year-old son loves "Uncle Vader" and R2D2 but as you can imagine there are some parts that are scary for younger viewers so this is geared toward an older audience and teens.

Sing – 23 December

This film is jam packed with talented singers and actors and looks like it's going to be really fun. The story is about a koala bear named Buster who recruits his best friend to help him drum up business for his theater by hosting a singing competition. Starring big names such as Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Withaspoon, Nick Offerman, Leslie Jones and so much more this is going to be a really great summer movie!
