I could be alone in thinking this, but Jimmy Kimmel’s latest video prank just seems mean. It’s a repeat of other Halloween specials where parents tease their kids by pretending to have eaten their Trick or Treat candy stashes. The supposedly “hilarious” outcomes are then filmed. Predictably, the kids act like kids who have had their treats taken away: Without fail, they cry. Some yell. Some call their parents mean. And I agree.
Kimmel shares a compilation of the videos which, also predictably, goes viral.

I could understand pranks played on adults who are equipped to retaliate, but making kids cry for the sake of fun video footage is just cruel. In my opinion, parents are there to provide a secure environment for their children, not one which teeters precariously close to bullying. If someone taunted me until I cried just for the clicks on Youtube, I'd be pretty upset. But I guess they'd just film that, too.

Is the candy prank cruel or just harmless fun?
