In a charming display of how the power of the internet can be used for good, a children’s hospital in the US was forced to ask people to stop sending pizza after a child being treated for cancer received over 20 in one day, according to Fox News:
“Reddit user “ashortstorylong” posted a photo of a sign in the window of a hospital that said: “Send Pizza RM 4112? with the headline: “Photo taken outside Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Smart Kid.””
The hospital was astounded at the response- according to the child’s mom, the sign was in the window for several days before it went viral on Reddit, and, once it did, a follow-up post was necessary to ask compassionate users to stop sending pizza deliveries. Despite this, the hospital was forced to turn away some pizzas, and the child’s mom was quoted as saying “[they’ve] made a little girl very happy, but NO MORE PIZZA IS NEEDED!” on the hospital’s website.
The 2-year-old girl who found herself in a mountain of pizza is undergoing chemotherapy.
