In a charming display of how the power of the internet can be used for good, a children’s hospital in the US was forced to ask people to stop sending pizza
after a child being treated for cancer received over 20 in one day, according to Fox News
“Reddit user “ashortstorylong” posted a photo of a sign in the window of a hospital that said: “Send Pizza RM 4112? with the headline: “Photo taken outside Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Smart Kid.””
The hospital was astounded at the response- according to the child’s mom, the sign was in the window for several days before it went viral on Reddit, and, once it did, a follow-up post was necessary to ask compassionate users to stop sending pizza deliveries
. Despite this, the hospital was forced to turn away some pizzas, and the child’s mom was quoted as saying “[they’ve] made a little girl very happy, but NO MORE PIZZA IS NEEDED!” on the hospital’s website
The 2-year-old girl who found herself in a mountain of pizza is undergoing chemotherapy.Do you ever reach out to people as a result of the internet?
