How would you react if your daughter's daycare pierced her ears without your permission?
A Texas mom picked up her five-year-old daughter from daycare, only to find that a teacher had pierced the child’s ears. The teacher’s response to the mom’s outraged questioning? “Mia”, the daughter, had “said it was ok”, according to Huffington Post.
Mia, however, had complained of pain after her piercing experience, prompting a different teacher to inform her mom.
Mia’s parents are calling for the teacher’s dismissal, and even considered criminal charges, although odd legislation protects the teacher: While children under the age of eighteen must get parental consent for a body piercing, the law does not apply to earlobes.
Her parents are questioning whether or not the environment was sterile- did the teacher use a clean needle, and, even if she did, why was she taking needles to school?
The five-year-old survived her traumatic ordeal, and even scored some free hoop earrings.
