Our roads are pretty dangerous at the best of times and during the silly season things get even more hectic. It’s a no brainer that when it comes to the safety of your baby you'd want to do all you can.
The Three Stages
Generally there are 3 types of car seats that correspond to the size of the baby. Some brands like to adapt across a wider range, but below are the 3 options that are worthwhile being familiar with when shopping for what you need for your baby.
Snug and Safe is the term used for babies newborn till 9kg. These are built with maximum support in mind and are a lot more compact and smaller than the next stage.
The second stage is from 9kg till 18kg which is the Infant Seat and is designed around comfort and safety and is most relevant for children up to around 4 years old.
The third stage option is called the Booster Seat. In addition to making sure of a safe seatbelt fit, the Booster aids with support and provides some protection as well.
We review some of the top products and ideas to make the car travel experience a safe one for the smallest member of the family.
