What we thought:

The much-loved adult memoir, Mao's Dancer, is now available for young readers (age 7 to 10) in the form of The Peasant Prince.  It tells the true story of Li Cunxin, a young boy in a poor village who dares to follow his dreams of becoming a dancer.  He had to leave home when he was only 11 years old to attend the Beijing Dance Academy.  From here he was selected to study ballet in America, and by the time he was 21 years old he was a world-class dancer, travelling from London to Paris and Moscow.

It is a beautifully illustrated book that will delight and inspire young children, helping them believe in the power of their dreams.  This story is one that stays with you forever.
