Toddler Lock: An Android app
Worried about your kid playing with your phone and making calls to Beijing? Now you don't have to!
Where can I get it? On the Android Market
What we thought
I have 3-year-old nephew and a 20-month-old niece who love to grab my phone and play with it. Unfortunately (for them), I traded in my normal phone for a full touchscreen phone and they weren't very impressed. No buttons? They were quite confused.
While trawling the Android Market I found this toddler-friendly app that just looked perfect. I tried it out and then handed it to my nephew and he was enthralled.
How it works
Once you open the app it locks the rest of the buttons on your phone so that only the black screen and small grey top bar can be seen. All your toddler has to do is touch the screen for shapes in random colours to pop up. They can also use their fingers to draw on the screen.
If things get too crowded all you have to do is pull the grey bar down and it clears the screen.
Once your little one is done playing, you can exit the app and unlock your phone by pressing the 4 corners of the screen in a clockwise sequence. Easy for you and me but not too easy for little fingers.
This really is a great app that kept my nephew occupied for ages. My little niece wasn't too interested as I had turned off the sounds which I found annoying, but which she loved.
I'd definitely recommend this app for anyone with a little one in their lives.
