Child Trace Child Identification Initiative
Iris recognition technology which could help protect your child.
Child Trace is an organization that works to raise awareness for child safety issues in and around South Africa. One of the key projects that we are busy with is the Child Identification Initiative also known as CIDI. This project was started after a group of concerned parents realized that in South Africa there is no form of positive identification for children under the age of 16.
Because of the lack of identification it makes all children under the age of 16 vulnerable to being abducted and child trafficking. Child abductors and child traffickers take advantage of the fact there is no form of positive identification for children. When a child is abducted, it takes just a few minutes to be able to change that child’s complete physical appearance and in our country that is what the police rely on mainly to be able to identify a missing or lost child once they have been found.
The Child Identification Initiative™ allows for the speedy and accurate recognition of children using Iris recognition technology. CIDI will have a nationwide network and database containing children’s Iris biometric information of which only authorised individuals will have access to. All relevant information of children enrolled and their parents / guardians details will be uploaded on the database.
In the event of a child getting lost and found, it simply requires for the child’s iris to be scanned and with the fast response action, parents and or guardians will be alerted within seconds of their Childs location provided the child is enrolled on the database. As no two irises are ever the same; it guarantees us that any children enrolled under the CIDI initiative can never be misidentified in any respect.
Child trafficking and abductions within South Africa is a serious pandemic, that many parents are not aware of. There are very few organizations that provide actual solutions to combat Child trafficking. Find out more about Child Trace.
