5 healthy snack options for your preschooler
Here are a few healthy ideas for you to try when your child wants to eat while you're on the go.
Wondering what to give your nibbly preschooler to chew on as a snack, but intent on choosing something healthy? We have some great ideas for you:
1. Cheese on a stick
The protein in this well-loved dairy product helps keep your kid's energy levels up between meals. Pop a few cubes of cheese on salt-free pretzel sticks or make fruit & cheese "sosaties" for a snack.
2. Peanut butter wraps
Not only do kids love peanut butter, it's super healthy too. Spread some sugar free peanut butter on a wholewheat wrap, add a few slices of strawberries and roll the wrap up for a yummy treat.
3. Yoghurt lollies
Use an ice lolly tray to freeze a yoghurt and muesli mix into healthy ice lollies - irresistible to any little person's palate.
4. Sweet potato crisps
Slice a sweet potato thinly and lay these slices on a baking tray. Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes or until the slices have browned. Allow to cool.
5. Nutty popcorn
Air popped popcorn is super healthy (plus it contains loads of fibre) and when mixed in with some peanuts, dried apricots and raisins it makes a delicious crispy snack to keep handy when you're on the go.
