Business tripping made easy
Its a business trip, not a guilt trip!
For a parent, taking a business trip can either be the most daunting experience or the total opposite. Each coin has a flip side - here's how to make the most of your next work-related trip…

Business tripping you out…

So you're dreading that looming business trip already.

When you were single, you could just pack that overnight bag and leave… but now as a parent, your responsibilities are elsewhere. Before you leave, you have to ensure that play dates are kept, doctors’ appointments are adhered to, not forgetting that you can’t forget to capture the soccer/rugby match or that ballet recital.

But rest assured, depending on how you look at it, it can be a blessing in disguise…

Travelling without the younglings…

Don’t feel guilty for being away from your kids! Sometimes that time apart will allow you to remember that you’re not just a mommy or daddy but an adult. And you need adult time too… so on your next business trip why not try the following…
  • You get the taste of freedom at the end of the day without having to come home and do homework or clean a house
  • Can you say PAMPER…while you in that stunning hotel, you might as well take advantage of the benefits that are being offered.
  • You can sleep soundly after a long day for more than four hours without being interrupted by bad dreams or there being a monster under their bed
  • You can finish that book you started three months ago but could never finish because of interruptions and being too tired to get to it.
  • If your trip grants you spare time, you can explore the place you're visiting and take in its beauty.

Travelling with the younglings…
  • Packing and preparing your kids for your trip away can be both exhausting for you and emotionally draining for them. So the next time you take that trip, why not make it a family occasion… and here are some reasons why it would work out…
  • Firstly, your kids will love travelling with you and love you for allowing them to come along.
  • Your kids will be well travelled and learn a lot thus also allowing them to discover what interests them
  • You will get to explore the place and see it through the eyes of your kids. Why not extend your trip after wrapping up your business so that you and the kids can really take in the sights.
  • You can strengthen that family bond that often gets distorted when you are separated from your kids.
  • Travelling with your kids creates great memories - it will linger with your kids for a very long time.

So the next time, you go on that business trip, take a breather and think about what it could truly mean to you…
