Local online bookstore Ethnikids was founded by five moms set on empowering African children by making diverse reading materials easily accessible. Here, one of the founding members, Khumo Tapfumaneyi, shares her excitement for local books teaching children about financial matters in fun and age-appropriate ways.
Understanding financial matters and how money works is an important life skill that many South African adults don’t possess. It’s so great to see local children’s books equipping children to deal with money matters from a young age.
Understanding how to budget, save and invest is empowering as it helps children learn how wealth is created. Storytelling is a powerful format when used in this manner.
