30% of parents in SA still smack their children

We speak to educational psychologist Anel Annandale and Parent24 editor Scott Dunlop, they tell us why reasoning with your children is the best form of discipline. Watch the video above.

Parent24's Kid's Nation Survey found that 30% of parents in SA still smack their children on the bum as a form of discipline. Annandale and Dunlop tell us how this can affect the child's development, and attitude towards violence.

Rather than smacking your children Annandale and Dunlop tell us reasoning is the best method of discipline to use.

When it comes to very young children who can't be reasoned with, Annandale says a small smack, not to hurt, but to shock can sometimes be used.
