Would you let your teen drink with you?
Does supervised drinking make teens more responsible? Apparently not.
There are parents who believe that letting their teen drink with them means they learn responsible drinking habits. Research shows that they could be wrong.
published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs observed teens in Grade 7 from the United States where underage drinking is prohibited and from Australia where adult-supervised drinking for teens is allowed. By the 9th Grade 36% of Australian teens had drinking problems.
The problem seems to be that instead of picking of responsible drinking habits, teens think they're mature enough to handle alcohol whether with their parents or not and this causes problems.
But what do you think? Would you let your teen drink with you?
