'A shrine to my child'

accreditation
Movies are filled with teary moments as teenagers finally leave the nest and move off to college or to 'find themselves'. The parents stand on the porch and wave goodbye with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. Once the now free-teen has driven away, the parents stand in their child's room and recollect the fond memories of them growing up.

Then that bedroom stays exactly as it. It never gets cleared out. It never has all of the contents stuffed into boxes and stored in the garage. It's left as a somewhat shrine to their child who has moved on - just in case they decide to come back.

Is reality anything like the movies we watch? Apparently not.

We asked our awesome Facebook parents if they would keep their child's room exactly as is once they move out. These were the honest answers.

Shrine or no shrine?

No way! I'd get that library I've always wanted. - Scott

Heck no! That's gonna be my Reading room/sun lounge/champers fridge! - Angie

Absolutely not. They might just move back! - Sumanda

No! A friend of mine even left her daughter's room the same after she passed away... I did not do the same when my son (aged 26) passed away. He's in my heart, not the room! - Noleen

Nope... I convert it into a lounge room where I can read all day. - Natalie

Yes! It's HER room after all. - Sankie

If I get my way my daughters will never leave home. - Margo

So it seems the majority of our Facebook parents can't wait to change their kid's room into something they can enjoy. But what do you think?
