Saving time with takeouts

Is fast food your guilty parenting secret?

Our editor had an uneasy feeling recently: she realised that her family had had takeout food three times in one week.

Of course, she’s a working mom married to a working dad, so the pressure on their time is immense, but three times in one week exceeded her comfort zone- It’s hard not to feel a little guilty when meals come in a box instead of being the fruit of hours of labour in a hot kitchen.

There are healthy takeout options at most places, so perhaps it’s not that evil. If you’re a parent under pressure, then it allows you to spend more time helping with homework, or having a laugh about all the funny things life throws at you.

Family time around a stove in a cosy kitchen is special, but there’s no need for takeaway guilt, if you do it right.
