Obama: 'No technology during the week'

Technology is a huge part of our every day lives, but should it play a major role in your child's life? If your child is exposed to too much tech time, it could become all that they can focus on. If kids are restricted from using any sort of technology at all, will they be able to survive in the modern world? The key seems to be balance.

According to Mashable, Barack and Michelle Obama have rules for their daughters, 14-year-old Malia and 11-year-old Sasha, with regards to how often and when they are allowed to use technology of any kind.

The rules:

• No cellphone use during the week
• No television watching during the week
• No computer use during the week, except for school work
• Technology use is restricted to the weekends

This may seem extreme to some but the Obamas could be onto something. Perhaps they don't want their children absorbed into the online world maybe they don't want their daughters seeing the political negativity that pops up on Twitter and Facebook.

In a world where tweeting at the dinner table and texting while driving is normal, "how much is too much" is always the question.
