'I put my hand up a lot, saying that I need help'- Elana Afrika shares her working-mom secrets

After two sold-out events in Cape Town Elana Afrika will be debuting her successful parenting workshop, The Parent & Baby Brunch in Gauteng this month. 

And the idea, Elana says, was inspired by her own experience. 

"Becoming a parent, especially for the first time, can be very overwhelming. And you often feel alone," confesses the radio presenter and podcast host, who found the support of other moms irreplaceable after welcoming her first child, Esther Beth. 

Another pregnancy later, and the media personality says she isn't shy about asking for help if and when needed. 

"I put my hand up a lot, saying that I need help when I do. It's ok to let your friends know when you're not fine. Real friends will lend a hand or help." 

Elana also credits mom-only Whatsapp groups and "a very hands-on husband" as the secrets to juggling motherhood and a career. 

'You can't and don't have to do it all alone!'

"There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed about when you do. In fact, it'll most likely be a welcome relief for other parents to see they're not the only ones struggling."  

Elana says the common parenting struggle also played a big role in putting her idea in motion. 

"I realised I was not alone in wanting to expand my parenting knowledge and form more meaningful connections with other moms." 

The Parent & Baby Brunch will take place 31 August, where a variety of guest speakers will cover everything from early childhood development to practical advice for new parents, healthy eating, and more.
