Adoption as a solution to infertility is 'viewed with suspicion' in some families

There are so many reasons why couples choose to adopt children, but some couples consider adoption due to infertility or medical conditions that make it impossible to carry a pregnancy to full-term.

Other reasons include not wanting to pass down genetic disorders or diseases to their children or wanting to give an abandoned child a loving home.

In South Africa, too many babies are abandoned or given up for adoption, and not enough people seek to adopt children.
