Award-winning actor Brenda Ngxoli has rubbished fellow actor David James' statement that the pair were playing around when he uttered a racial slur towards her.

Ngxoli took to her social media over the weekend and opened up about, among other things, the incident that took place on the set of Sew the Winter to My Skin where she said James called her a k*****meit.

In a statement shared with News24, James said they were in a car travelling back from set and having a discussion on the political era and script-setting; he said they also discussed racial monikers, which led to mutual banter using what he described as "pejorative phrases".
