From a matric pass rate of 37% two years ago, the staff and pupils at a Cape Town school took home the title of most improved public school at the Western Cape 2023 National Senior Certificate Awards.
Joe Slovo Engineering High School principal Sityhilelo Ntamo said the Khayelitsha school had achieved an 87.2% matric pass rate in the 2023 National Senior Certificate exams.
Ntamo was congratulated by Premier Alan Winde and Education MEC David Maynier during the awards ceremony at Leeuwenhof, the premier's residence, on Tuesday.
