Giant leafy animal figurines, pink balloons in every shade of baby pink and enough flowers to decorate a small island – describing Khloe Kardashian's baby shower as over the top would be an understatement.

This past Saturday the latest mom-to-be from the Kardashian fold celebrated her induction to motherhood at an all-pink-everything themed party.

If you haven't already seen the opulent get-together, here's a peek:

But really OTT baby showers are standard practice in celebville – and if you're thinking of doing something similar (on a budget or otherwise), here's some inspo to get the ball rolling:

A 1950s themed baby shower à la Serena Williams

The tennis pro kicked it old skool with her Grease-themed baby shower. Attendees included sister Venus Williams, and the champ's "crew" Eva Longoria, Ciara, and Kelly Rowland, each rocking perfectly on theme vintage outfits.

The event was held at Nick’s 50s Diner – redubbed the Baby O’s Diner – equipped with jukebox and retro decor.

Baby daddy Alexis Ohanian played along as Serena's very own Danny Zuko.

Fast food chic like Chrissy Teigen

We're sure her surprise baby shower this past February must have been fabulous but Chrissy Tiegen's 2016 shower is definitely one to remember and emulate – especially if fast food served in a chic setting is your thing.

In fact, Chrissy's first pregnancy was celebrated twice over in 2016 with two parties hosted in her honour: one by hubby John, and another by reality queen Kim Kardashian.

And as we know, the Kardashians know how to baby shower.

Fast food mains were served at Kim's $20 million mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles, and the table settings featured a stunning assortment of white flowers.

Try an Afrocentric themed party like Beyoncé

If you break the internet with your pregnancy announcement, your baby shower is bound to be OTT. The Carter Push Party is the ultimate inspiration if you're thinking of an African theme (the Beyoncé and Jay Z version of Africa, that is).

Beyoncé wore a headwrap, bikini top, bold printed skirt and chunky accessories, her bare bump covered with a henna tattoo. Guests mimicked their host's style and were also able to get in on the henna tattoo action with an artist in attendance.

The venue was decorated to match the mamma-to-be, with graphic prints in orange and pink on everything and not a flower or nappy cake in sight.

The event is rumoured to have cost the singer $500 000.

Try a Kylie Jenner silk pajama party

Kylie Jenner kept all visuals of her baby bump off the social media radar for the duration of her pregnancy, surprising the world when she showcased the entire nine months – including her lavish baby shower – via a video diary.

The plush event was held in a marquee at her $12 million home which was decked out in pink flowers.

Kylie and her guests wore silky pink pyjamas and fluffy slippers, and the decor included couches with shaggy pillows, teddy bears, and a flower wall backdrop where attendees could pose with the guest of honour.

If you could choose, which theme would you go with? Would you organise your own baby shower or should it be a surprise? Tell us in the comments section below or email your story plus photos to chatback@parent24.com and we may publish them!
