At 60 years old, journalist and lawyer Alejandra Rodriguez is shattering stereotypes in the pageant world as she paves her way to compete for Miss Universe Argentina.
Recently crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires, Alejandra is the oldest contestant to clinch the title.
When the Miss Universe contest started in 1952, contestants were required to be between the ages of 18 to 28, with the stipulation that they shouldn't have children.
However, with the change in Miss Universe rules in 2023, Alejandra saw an opportunity to participate in the pageant and make her mark.
“Participating in a beauty pageant always fascinated me. However, due to becoming a mother at a young age, I was never able to make that dream a reality. Miss Universe, which promotes inclusion, offered me the chance to pursue my dream. My inner voice urged me to go for it, to experience the journey instead of just hearing about it,” she told HOLA!
Reflecting on her victory, the newly crowned Miss Buenos Aires shared her joy and excitement about representing people in her age group.
"I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only judged by physical beauty but by another set of values," she says.

Alejandra credits her youthful appearance to her healthy diet and lifestyle. "The basic thing is to have a healthy life, eat well, do physical activity," says Alejandra, who works out three times a week.
"What I try to do is intermittent fasting, I think that helps a lot. Then I try to eat organic foods, a lot of fruit, a lot of vegetables, and use good creams."
