We asked our Facebook fans: "At what age will/did your baby first taste chocolate?". Here's what they said:

For as long as we can keep the grandparents to abstain from feeding it to her. - Gman Gman

?4 months old but from birth through breast milk :P - Maya Ward

My mother-in-law gave him a taste at 4 weeks old. I was very angry. - Martine Farha Ismail

18 months was the 1st taste of chocolate and its a rule that sweets are for Fridays only. Makes life so much easier in the shops =D - Jenna Nel ?

Definitely after 6months! I only gave a taste after a year but the grandparents slipped some in earlier. - Mahjiedah Petersen Hartley

I have no idea cause my MIL had no respect for my no sweets rule for as long as I could control it, still makes me so angry - Aneesa Chohan

My ex MIL also had no respect for my request for no chocolate so Jess was about 6months. - Sharon Swanepoel

I had an entire slab of Milky Bar in hospital so I guess my kids had second-hand exposure to chocolate (via breastfeeding) when they were about two days old. But the real thing was kept well away until they had their first official piece at their respective 1st birthday parties. - Leonie Mollentze

She tasted a choccie easter egg at 6 months but, it was more a toy to her, and she broke it in pieces and only sucked on it a bit, soon lost interest. Last night at 7 months we tried to let her suck on a piece of chocolate and she did not want to. - Lize Nel
