Firstly, have a routine from day 1! Have set times for napping, eating and bathing and stick to it, even if it means less of a social life for you. Secondly, let baby sleep in his own room from day 1. Invest in a good baby-monitor and you will know about every beep your baby makes without having him in your room, it will also allert you if baby stops breathing etc.
