Don't put your naked child on the internet!

accreditation
Kids of just about any age are adorable (mostly). And when they do cute things it's natural to want to snap a photo and put it on Facebook for aunty Marge to see it. Or to post it to Twitter where your friends will retweet it with much delight.

Late last year, The Telegraph reported that 112 people were arrested in connection with an online paedophile ring. This is unfortunately the reality of the internet. There are some very sick people out there and that innocent naked-in-the-bath photo you posted to Google+? It could be exactly what a pervert is looking for.

Calm down

I'm not saying that we should all start going crazy and never sharing any photos of our children ever again. What I'm saying is this: Be wise. Nudie photos of your child are never a good idea to post online. But an album of your child's 3rd birthday? Perfectly safe.

If you want to take extra precautions then you can set your online social networking profiles to private.

We took to Facebook and asked "Do you easily post photos of your children online? Even if they're naked-bath photos?". This is what they had to say:

I wont post naked pics if you can see their parts or if they're doing something where sick people may get ideas. - Candice Tender

I easily do so but NOT naked photos, I was once tempted because it was way too cute but later stopped myself. - Unathi Sompondo

I used to but recently decided to delete most of my son's pics. - Rochelle Barrish

I've posted pics of my 16 month old (then about 6 months old) playing in the bath. You can't see any private parts - I don't see anything wrong with that. Only my Facebook friends (family and close friends) can view the photos. My profile is blocked for anyone not on my Facebook list. - Nadia Katzke

It's so sad that something so cute and innocent gets twisted and seen in a different light by some sick wack jobs. - Vanessa Chenette Panayiotides

What is your policy when it comes to posting photos of your children online?
