An Australian man called out his 10-year-old daughter’s school for sexism and it was dripping with sarcasm.
Stephen Callaghan was outraged about what happened at Bubbo West Public School which his daughter, Ruby, attends.
He penned a letter after learning that the girls in his daughter’s class would have a “make-over” while the boys would go to a local hardware store called Bunnings, according to Viral Thread.
The hilarious letter implied that his daughter must have time-travelled to the past: “When Ruby left for school yesterday it was 2017 but when she returned home in the afternoon she was from 1968.”
The dad told Junkee that his daughter is “quite a feminist” and was indignant when she came home.
“Ruby said she asked her (male) teacher if she could go to Bunnings as she doesn’t care about make-up. The teacher told her it was only for boys,” Stephen told Junkee.
“Ruby has since decided she’d like her hair done but is still annoyed she wasn’t given a choice and more importantly she felt she was forced into a gender stereotype.”
After Stephen retweeted the letter, a number of other parents shared stories of similar incidents on Twitter.
