Take this morning for example, in the midst of trying to get dressed for work and making sure my boys are sorted and in a decent enough state to be acceptable through the school gates, (except for that occasional “sleepie” that escaped the face wash in the morning), my boys decide to have a fight in the back of the car on the way to school.
Now my boys are 7 and 4 respectively and believe me the little one can hold his own against his big brother. But looking in my kiddy mirror that is clipped onto my rear view mirror , I see the two of them physically wrestling over a silly tiny little dinosaur that they both want. Never mind the fact that they both haven’t played with the toy in a while and all of a sudden it is the most desired item in the world!
To say that by the time we got to my oldest son Tristan’s school, world war 3 had broken out, there were tears and screaming ! The parents at the school giving me side ways looks like “ can’t you handle your kids”.
It took every ounce of patience I had to pull them apart and settle the argument and get them to apologize to each other , so that they could go to school happily was a feat to behold!
But when I see them hug each other and say sorry, it melts my heart and I can no longer be angry with them.
So it's off to work I go after dropping off the little one at nursery school with a big heart and the memory of a bad day a distant memory!
Hope you managed to turn a bad morning into a good one just by being around your kids!
