Babies, being, you know, BABIES, are reliant on their parents for food, warmth, shelter, and also empathy and understanding. They are entirely helpless.
As such, I think the least a parent can do is provide a few crutches to make being utterly dependable on other people a little easier.
This article is exactly right. Current research slams sleep training, and any parenting technique that goes against natural instinct - to cuddle, comfort, nurse, hold your baby and toddler - should be approached with extreme caution.
