Guilty feelings

Hi Scott

Jip, I see the police van regularly. LOL! From not being able to be on the parents committee this year or help with fundraising ( which I have been doing for the last 5 years). I have taken a sabbatical year were I am only concentrating on two things:

I am attending all available Bible school seminars as our local church, which will keep me quite busy for most of the year and then having to put it in to practice as well.

And getting into the “big school” study thing. I was blown away in my daughter’s (GR1) homework from week 6 onwards. Man these kids of today are SO MUCH more advanced than what I was at school
Okay, I don’t want to give my age away now, but WOW, the lessons they are being taught now I had I Standard ( ya very old) 3 / 4 !!

I really had to get my brain rooms dusted and vacuumed (and jip Googled were I could) to help with her current home work!!

I also got her into the habit of doing revision weekend, and sjoe that’s a tough one as weekends are normally time spend with friends and going to the beach etc… now its only possible if revision is done..

This way I can see what she has learned during the week, and well mm yes, refresh my memory as well. thank God I have a very good aftercare for her that helps with her home so we don’t have to do to much at home during the week.. we only get home if we lucky at 6 and have to dash off again at 6h30 for my Bible Seminars and or other church meetings. Fortunately B loves going with and in the proses are also learning more from the Word.

But when it comes to other pleasures, I do also fall very short. Being an only parent with one income, those little extra pleasures like hiring DVD’s or going to theme parks are uit soos koekies in n weeshuis!!

We normally opt for beach / local park trips or doing fun things at home (low budget activities).

One gets so intimidated with the media and all the social have to do’s that there will never be enough time or money to do everything. And where will it lead you!, especially my daughter that still has so much to learn from life and it’ s values, it’s good and it’s bad, having to make the right decisions and yes having to carry the consequences of wrong choices!

We as parents need to spend more quality time with our kids, so that they can remember they live I  happy home and had a happy childhood, and not on all mommy and daddy could buy me or take me too.
We go to the library a lot and there is plenty to learn there as well…. all for free. And its time well spend, both learning something new together.

So police van.. I might be guilty, but my daughter and myself are happy

God Bless

Isabel
