I'm not bitter from hidings
"Spare the rod, spoil the child."
Readers respond to Ban the Smack! by Scott Dunlop.

This makes me angry. I do not agree with that psychologists point of view. I am not bitter or angry from the hidings I received as a child. However, I was NOT beaten senseless or ever anywhere but the backside.

I as a teacher can see which children get hidings and which don't and quite honestly those who do are a pleasure to teach as I only have to speak once and they listen. Unfortunately the others, I feel like a broken record and I can make them lose playing privileges all I like and they don't care. Now you want to make them ALL like that?! Including MY own future kids... You might as well send the cops. Because yes, I am as a teacher has seen it.

Spare the rod, spoil the child.

All for smacking in moderation
