We have a family computer and my laptop; the desktop has all the educational games they could want, booster maths is their favorite as they get rewarded after answering a set number of questions correctly!
They also love playing Chess against the PC! My boys are not allowed to sit in front of the PC all day as I feel that it is healthy for them to play outside, ride their bikes etc! When the twins want to go online for a school project etc, they do so on the laptop and only with my permission and then I make sure that I am present with them to keep an eye on the web sites as there is some nasty surprises out there!
Nathan at 16 is old enough to do his own research but he knows the rules and also that I will check up on him anytime I feel like it, !
We have set standards and rules and we stick to them, and the kids are happy with this as they understand their boundaries!
