How about teaching our children to distinguish between fiction and reality? I read this book and went on to marry an amazing man who is loving, gentle and kind. There are plenty of rich men out there who would love a young plaything.
Every other young woman I know who read the books, (and I know plenty of them) went on to have a healthy relationship. So rather than teaching our daughters what is wrong with one fictional story, rather teach them what to look for in a man, and what a healthy relationship is.
If your children can be swayed so easily by a book or a movie - then you ARE NOT doing your job right. I'm confident that when my daughter watches this movie one day as a young adult, she will not model her future relationships on it.
I trust my parenting skills.
