Try salt instead of sugar!

The kids placed salt in the sugar pot hoping to catch me, instead my mom made coffee for my brother and added his sugar as she normally does.

What a spectacle as he took his first sip and out of politeness tried not to say anything. The second sip and he burst out spluttering and spitting the mouthful in the sink.

His words "no really, Mom, what is wrong with this coffee?" had the kids howling in delight.
