My son LOVES playing Snakes and Ladders, he turned 6 in April and happily plays for all of us in the house (if we are otherwise occupied/sitting there watching TV he plays along side us!) ie he throws for us all, and moves our colours on the board when its our turn, happily shrieking when “we” go down a huge snake and gloating mildly when he goes up a big ladder! He loves the game (esp when others actively participate which of course we do!) and his friends love playing too when they come round. So its a great game from 5/6 onwards, and its teaching him winning/losing (not always a good loser tho) and also counting is his new thing, its really helping him count by himself.
His latest “trick” that granny taught him is to go DOWN the ladders and UP the snakes, so its a mind bender as well, going against the grain of what he was originally taught which I think is a great brain stretcher for a 6 year old!
We love this classic game.
