While opening presents on her 10th birthday, Ivy Zezulka was surprised with a life-changing gift.

With the news concealed in a box and presented under the guise of yet another birthday present, Ivy found out that she, along with younger siblings Kai (3) and Lita (2), were to be officially adopted

The foster parents Ivy had been living with, Paige and Daniel Zezulka, were smart enough to make sure that the moment was preserved forever, filming her raw and emotional reaction and posting the video online.

Since sharing the video via Facebook, Paige's post went viral, writing:

"This will be my favourite video I ever share. This was the day we told our daughter that we were going to be able to adopt her (and her brother and sister)!

"She had been praying to be adopted and we found out on her birthday that it was going to happen!

"Our kids spent 1,128 days in foster care, over 3 years. It is so hard on children to live in such uncertainty.

The video was so popular that the family has been featured in a number of television shows, including Good Morning America and The Ellen Show

Sharing the backstory of how Ivy and her siblings had come to live with the Zezulkas, Daniel told Ellen:

"Well, when our home opened up, we got a call about a little African-American boy... And so, yeah, we were just head over heels for Kai but we also found out at that time about Ivy. She was in a foster home down the road, so we started getting them together, and then shortly after that we learned about Lita."

Paige shared with Ellen that she and Daniel were never really interested in foster care but were convinced by a fellow foster family to give it a shot.

"We weren't sure what direction the case was going to go but then when it started to go towards adoption, they asked if we would adopt all three. And of course, we were like, yes. We love them!"
