The famous daughter showed up for her mom in a big way, and mama Tina Knowles-Lawson returned the favour, theming her annual event around Beyonce's upcoming movie, Lion King.

Queen Bey famously swore off all interviews quite a few years ago but could not turn down the chance to promote her mom Tina Knowles-Lawson's annual fundraising event, the Wearable Art Gala, reports O Magazine

The event takes place each year in order to raise funds for the WACO Theater Center, the non-profit centre for performance arts founded by Tina and husband, Richard Lawson.

Each year the gala is given a theme, and this year Tina decided to go with “A Journey to The Pride Lands” - clearly inspired by her daughter's upcoming release, The Lion King.

Given that her last interview was with Oprah in 2013, the star has come full circle, giving her first on-camera interview to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

The star, who walked the red carpet with her 7-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay-Z, said the event is special to her because it's one of the few times she gets to share the red carpet with her family.

Bey also talked about how excited she is for her children to watch her new movie.

"It's the first time I'm doing an appearance as a person that stars in the Lion King, which is something I grew up watching and I'm so excited for my kids to see it."

The singer also spoke highly about Tina and how inspired she is by her mother's initiative.

"My mother has always been an entrepreneur, and she’s taking that and teaching these young women that they can be entrepreneurs... It's about the impact that you've had on this Earth." she said, "My mother always believed that every person in this world has a purpose, and I think her gift is helping people realize their purpose a lot faster."

So does this means Beyoncé's giving interviews now? Probably not.

Earlier this year, Yvette Noel-Schure, Beyoncé's publicist told Elle.com that she doesn't think "any artist owes someone a sit-down interview," but what fans deserve is "a really good performance."
