Throwback: The cast of Matilda got together to re-enact iconic scenes from the film and we're loving it!
Remember when Trunchbull made Bruce Bogtrotter eat an entire chocolate cake in Matilda? Well, the cast got together to re-enact this and other scenes from the film, leaving us feeling nostalgic.

Remember that iconic scene from The Lion King when the sun rises over the land to see all the animals gather and witness the birth and arrival of Simba? And when Macaulay Culkin innocently applied aftershave to his soft skin before screaming his head off in Home Alone?

So many unforgettable movie scenes from our childhood stay with us long after we’ve grown up and gone on to have children of our own. So when we came across the reunion of the cast of Matilda, doing a re-enactment of the most iconic scenes, we just had to share it with you.

The film, based on the Roald Dahl book, came out in 1996 (22 years ago). But we can still remember being terrified of principal Trunchbull, the chokey, and her horrendous punishments.

The cast re-enacted the scene in which Bruce Bogtrotter had to scoff down an entire chocolate cake in front of the school as punishment for stealing a nibble of Trunchbull’s earlier. Only this time, Bruce Bogstrotter was all grown up.

They also re-created the scene where Trunchball swings little Amanda Thripp by her pigtails. Because having pigtails, just like having earrings now that she’s all grown up, was completely and utterly unacceptable.

Thinking about it now, Matilda could easily have been a rather traumatising family film for us to watch as kids (no wonder Amanda Thripp cut her hair), but it certainly was one of the most memorable films of our childhood.
