As the generational gap gets bigger and bigger, it seems that trends and fads are coming and going even faster and it's so difficult to keep up with the kids these days. Music sounds a lot different than it did back in the day and is constantly evolving. You can't be blamed for not knowing it all or for mistaking the artists for one another. We've got to hand it to you for trying!

I think my parents are pros at trying to be “cool parents” every now and then, emphasis on "trying." My dad will hear literally any rap song on the radio and ask, “Is this Drake?” or "Little Wayne?". Any woman vocalist would automatically be "Ray-aah-nah" (I apologise, Rihanna). My mom, on the other hand, excitedly shows me her attempts at selfies. I mean I love her and all, but sis really needs to work on her angles. Although kind of cringe-worthy, I do find their attempts heartwarming though.

Since I spend more time on YouTube than I’d care to admit, I usually come across some reaction videos, and I'm really enjoying the “parents react to modern music” or "do parents know modern music?" ones. It's really endearing, and in certain cases, quite impressive actually. Check it out for yourself below.
Do parents know modern music?
My favourite is when one mom says, "It's just a bunch of auto-tuned malarkey", because I'm about one hundred percent sure many parents would agree.
Don't feel bad if you don't know these songs though, or if you've never heard of the "In My Feelings challenge" or think "Lil Pump" is a mini water bottle. Turns out, teens aren't too great when it comes to music from older generations either. Watch them react to '80s music as they hopelessly guess the songs and artists.
