WATCH | Marcelo and Mini's love story will warm your heart

Marcelo is just four and half, he was adopted by an American family from Arkansas in 2018, and ever since then he and the family's senior dog Mini have enjoyed the best of friendships.

His mom, known as Mamabear, shares photos and videos of the cute pair as they take walks, eat, sleep, shower and play together, and the resulting Instagram account has close to 50 000 followers! 

It's no surprise though, just see how cute they are! 

A sweet compilation of Marcelo and the 14-year-old Chihuahua Mini put together below was compiled by The Dodo, an Instagram page that features pets and their owners from all over the world.

Marcelo’s family consists of his adoptive mom Mamabear, his adoptive dad and his older sister who is 15, and it's clear that his family loves and adores him just as much as Mini does.

Mamabear explained in an instagram post that Mini loves children and that she knew that Marcelo would be no exception.

The US adoption network shows that about 135,000 children are adopted in the United States each year.

Of non- stepparent adoptions, about 59% are from the child welfare (or foster) system, 26% are from other countries, and 15% are voluntarily relinquished American babies.

However, you would be surprised by the nasty comments from some Instagram users implying that the family 'bought Marcelo from Africa' and that he 'needs black parents'. 

Mamabear often brings these comments to our attention, assuring us that she does not really care what people think because to them, as a family, Marcelo is a blessing - and he is happy to be part of the family. 

In an Instagram post Mamabear said, “Marcelo is an active boy, full of joy and completes our family. We are incredibly blessed and humbled to get to raise such a bright light“.

Mamabear believes that families do not have to match.

To her, posting the pairs' adventures is about making their followers smile, and to showcase the love Marcelo has for the 14-year-old Mini.
